The band "FM” has been around since 1984 and released eleven albums so
far. Now I must be honest with you… I didn’t know much about the band!
I only have one or two albums and a few singles in my CD collection and
last time I listened to them is a long, long time ago. But now that I
have the brand new album of the British band in my hands I started to
search all over the internet and called some friends if they have any
"FM” albums…. I listened to all of them and I have to say these guys
sure know how to make great solid rock ‘n’ roll albums. So now I can
tell you everything about these albums…but I think it will be better if
you listen to them yourself. Tip: the first three tracks are mighty!

So with that said I now can tell you something about "Metropolis”. When
I listen to the disc it sounded familiar right away …there are songs I
can compare to AOR but also to some heavier stuff. Metropolis has a
little bit from everything. I will make myself clear. A song like
"Hollow" sounds just like Gotthard did on there "Homerun" album.
"Flamingo Road" begins with an ACDC guitar riff, after this riff the
song flows over into a song that Whitesnake or Thunder could have
recorded. The instrumental title track "Metropolis" could have come
from the "Armageddon" score. "I Don’t Need Nothing" has a Poison
/Aerosmith vibe to it. The bluesy "The Extra Mile" might as well have
been an Eagles/Don Henley song. Do you catch my drift… these are no bad
bands to be compared to!

The voice of Steve Overland sounds
over the complete record magnificent. Are there on "Metropolis" also
tracks that are typical FM I hear you say… Yes! Songs like "Over You,
Bring Back Yesterday" and "Who’ll Stop The Rain". One of the many
highlights on the disc is the track ” I ain’t The One”. This is an up
tempo rock song with cowbells during the chorus and the world needs
more cowbell! It sure is my favourite track of the album.
FM also
wrote with "Days Gone By” a sequel to Nickelback’s "Rockstar". Funny
lyrics with a catchy nanananana which already can be heard in the
intro.

Metropolis is the long-awaited sixth studio album released by British AOR/hard rock band FM, their first since 1995.[4] FM reformed in 2007 to headline Firefest IV, and following Andy Barnett's subsequent departure, FM recruited new guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick in time to once again headline Firefest in October 2009 and record the new album.[5] Metropolis was produced by the band and recorded at various studios including world-renowned Metropolis Studios in London (providing the band with the inspiration for the album title itself), where famous clients include Queen and more recently The Who and The Black Eyed Peas.
