This is the third release from this obscure Georgia band that carries high the torch of classic 80’s US metal. As their last release was a compilation of old demo tracks, and their first album was years and years ago, this is almost like another debut. Cauldron Born play an underground style of heavy metal rooted in such classic sounds as Manilla Road and "Night on Brocken" era Fates Warning. This album is filled with chugging metal riffs and some quite technical solos. The songs are all pretty long – around 7-8 minutes each, which is a good thing if you’re like me and favor longer songs. Each song has different parts and tempo changes to keep things interesting, as well as memorable choruses that stick in your head. The lyrics are almost entirely based on Robert E Howard stories, which for big REH fans (such as myself) is a big plus also. If you are at all a fan of underground metal I promise you’ll be singing along with "By This Axe I Rule" in no time.
