In The Pink
was formed in Boston in 1986. After a few lineup changes that included
Pat Badger (Extreme) and Brian Tichy (Ozzy, Billy Idol), In The Pink
reached their stride and became a poular fixture in the local rock
scene. In 1990 they inked a short-lived record contract with Epic
Records only to become a casualty after management changes.
In
1991, local radio station WAAF decided to add the ballad "Under Summer
Skies" to their playlist. After weeks of airplay the poularity of the
song grew and eventually landed them at number 1. The song spread and
became a number 1 hit in multiple markets. Although the band was well
received amongst industry insiders (working with Nuno Bettencourt,
Michael Bolton as well as others) the landscape of the music biz had
changed.
In The Pink found it more difficult to succumb to
the new 'Grunge movemet" and instead of sacraficing their integrity,
they decide to call it quits in 1993. In 1998 MTM records released
their CD under the name Sunshine Jive.
