Well, you might hear this from every other band out there that we are different from the rest, we are here to make a statement of some sort, we are influenced by the Beatles and Cannibal Corpse etc. etc. Apollonian Quest isn't an out of the ordinary sort of a band. The central reason or concept behind its inception was that 5 guys, after getting really bored of the music that every single band out there was making, decided to get together and write a few songs that they themselves wanted to play and listen to in their spare time. Apollonian Quest doesn't franchise to any particular genre per say, and believes in writing whatever gets them off and is fun to play. The members are extremely varied in their influences, and each bring in one fifth of this heady cocktail. Vocalist and song writer Ananda Mukhopadhyay is influenced by classics and fantasy, which reflects in the lyrics and the concepts used in most of the compositions. He is currently persuing a degree in Sound Technology from SAE school of sound in Mumbai and aspires to become a respected audio engineer. Guitar Player Rajarshi Bhattacharya brings in a lot of progressive and melodic influences. He is fat and is a final year Mechanical Engineering student at IIT Bombay and aspires to cure the diseases of Joblessness and Canceer by 1 potent medicine someday. By now, you might have realized that we are not mentioning any the bands that influenced us. This is what we call the Anu Malik Syndrome or, AMS for short. We don't want anybody to dig up those bands, and discover the grotesque semblence in the music, if any. Keyboard player Joshua Abraham, one of the founding members of AQ is the most qualified musician in the band (8th grade graduate Pianist from Trinity College of Music, London). He is also a final year student in IIT Bombay, studying Electrical Engineering and aspires to 1 day, electrify every unlit bathroom out there by the year 2043. Drummer Hamza Kazi packs a good 6 packs and influences of modern progressive metal bands such as Tool, Meshuggah and Opeth(Ouch!! Band names). He is a graduate in Automotive Engineering from Saboo Siddiki College and aspires to open his very own Dance Scool sometime in the future that gives special discounts to Aliens and Homosexuals. Bass player Kamal Roy is the youngest member in the band and is soft as a Lotus Petal. He believes in non violence and listens to a lot of Metalcore. The band has been around for the last 3 years, but most of that time has been spent in consuming food and figuring out what to do with their musical juices. He is a second year Aerospace Engineering student in IIT Bombay. The band started jamming way back in 2005 and played live for the first time at Livewire 06, with a slightly different lineup. Other gigs include Livewire 07 and 08, Distortion, SIES Nerul(second place), High Voltage, Ruia College(FInalist) and Decibels, IIT Madras, Unchained at RAIT, Blizzards of Rock at IIM Ahd in the near future. The band was one of the very few bands to get shortlisted in both Saarang, IIT M and Blizzards of Rock, IIM A. The band is also shortlisted for Youth Of The Nation, a concert for the innocent victims of 26/11 to be held at Bandra Kurla Complex. A few of Apollonian Quests' originals have been part of compilations such as Unchained 07 and Furtados Music Compilation.
