HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE is mentored by vocalist / guitarist John
Cobbett, citing credits with and early incarnation of GWAR, WHIPKRAFT,
HIPPIE BITCH, THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG and AMBER ASYLUM. Previously
the project had gone under the title of UNHOLY CADAVER, issuing the
much lauded '2001 album 'The Bastard'. Bassist Janice Tanaka has a
history with AUNTIE CHRIST and STONE FOX. She would also undertake a
2000 European tour with L7 and busied herself with FIREBALL MINISTRY.
Tanaka would wind up as part of Pop diva PINK's touring entourage in
2002.
HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE cut a 2003 album, provisionally billed as
'The August Engine', after which Tanaka was supplanted by Jamie Myers
of FLIES ON FLESH repute and Sigrid Sheie of the Minneapolis Punk trio
MENSTRUAL TRAMPS was enrolled as vocalist / keyboard player. By June
the new record had assumed the revised title of 'Doomed Parade'.
HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNES 2006 album 'The Locust Years', issued
through Cruz Del Sur Music, was recorded at Trackworx Studios in San
Francisco by Justin Weis.
