Греческая команда "Odes of ecstasy" была сформирована в ноябре 1993 года гитаристом-вокалистом Димитрисом Бикосом и басистом Джозефом Никоу. Спустя год в банде появился еще один гитарист, Димитрис Панайотидис. Завершили формирование состава Никос Симигианнис (ударные) и Ирини Циклоу (клавишные). В декабре 1995-го музыканты выпустили первую промо-пленку, включавшую в себя всего один трек "Theogony". Летом 1996-го было записано первое официальное демо под названием "Atheistic emotions". В его создании также приняла участие вокалистка Кристина Маниати.

Демо содержало три композиции с атмосферно-симфоническим дэт-металлом, кавер сэббэтовского "Paranoid" и одну амбиентную вещицу с женским вокалом, электрогитарами и клавишными.

"Atheistic emotions" получили хорошие отзывы, и "Odes of ecstasy" были признаны многообещающей командой. Вскоре Панайотидиса загребли в армию, а его место занял Никос Балтас. Со свежими силами в мае 1997-го коллектив записал новую композицию "Words of insanity", выпущенную в виде демо. Песня показала, что "Odes of ecstasy" стремятся расширить свой саунд путем внесения в музыку классических элементов. Отзывы вновь были положительными, и группу начали сравнивать с такими известными в данном жанре коллективами как "Septic flesh", "Therion" и "Theatre of tragedy".

А греческое издание "Metal hammer" признало "Words of insanity" лучшей демкой месяца. Такое стечение обстоятельств помогло команде заключить контракт с фирмой "The end records".

В 1998 году на свет появился дебютный лонгплей под названием "Embossed dream in four acts", состоявший из шести симфо-дэтовых треков (пролог, четыре "акта" и эпилог) с гроулингом от Димитриса Бикоса и Никоса Балтаса и "чистым" мелодичным вокалом Кристины Маниати. Альбом был признан слушателями высокохудожественным произведением, и стал одним из самых продаваемых релизов лейбла "The end records". Вскоре в составе произошла очередная замена – теперь клавишными вместо Ирини Циклоу заведовал Саввас Дандоулакис. Обновленные "Odes of ecstasy" принялись за создание второго альбома. На написание материала у группы ушел почти год, и лишь в ноябре 1999-го музыканты отправились в студию. Сессии проходили в "Esoteron studio" вплоть до мая 2000 года.

Новое творение под названием "Deceitful melody" продолжило линию своего предшественника. Музыкальная палитра даже расширилась, полностью соответствуя понятиям современного симфо-металла.

Odes of Ecstasy formed in Greece around November of 1993 by Dimitris Bikos and Joseph Nikou. In 1994 Dimitris Panayiotidis joined the band on guitar, and in December of 1995 they released the first promo tape containing one song named Theogony.

In the summer of 1996 they recorded their first demo called Atheistic Emotions, which featured Christina Maniati providing female vocals. The demo includes three songs of Atmospheric Symphonic Death Metal, a cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and an Ambient tune featuring only female vocals, keyboards and electric guitars. The specific release was announced as the “Promo of the Month” from the Greek Metal Hammer magazine.

Following the release of the demo, Dimitris Panayiotidis left the band to join the military, and was replaced by Nikos Baltas.

In 1997, they released a single song promo entitled “Words of Insanity” which gave them the opportunity to sign with the American records label, The End Records.

In 1998, through the contract with The End Records, Odes Of Ecstasy released their first official album with the title “Embossed Dream in Four Acts”. The sound of this album was characterized as Death Metal featuring brutal male and operatic female vocals and many influences from classical music.

The second release of the band came in 2000, again through The End Records and it had the title “Deceitful Melody”. The musical style of the specific album was a continuation from the first album with the exception of having a more progressive sound and approach than the previous album.

After that, the band came to a standstill for several years due to many line-up changes, caused mainly by the obligatory military service of some of the band’s members.

In 2004 the band formed again with a new line - up and a different musical orientation. From that time the band performed live in several shows in order to promote the news songs from its upcoming release.

Finally, in 2006 Odes of Ecstasy released a self-title "Odes Of Ecstasy" promo including 5 songs and in the end of October 2007 their full album is finished and soon will be released.

All these years Odes Of Ecstasy has sold, through the band’s official releases, at least 10.000 copies worldwide.
