Cамый симметричный метал-состав в мире был сформирован в 2004 году, когда Jonas Kjellgren (Carnal Forge, Centinex, World Below), Henrik Ohlsson (Theory In Practice, Mutant, Altered Aeon), Per Nilsson (Altered Aeon), Christian Alvestam (Unmoored, Incapacity, Torchbearer) и Kenneth Seil (Asian Dawn) решили объединить усилия для создания совершенно новой, свежей формы death metal без каких-бы то ни было рамок.

Главной идеей стало включение в музыку невероятного количества клавишных и синтезаторов, не забыв при этом о тяжелых гитарах и сокрушительной ритм-секции. В апреле 2004 года новый состав записал демо с песней "Seeds Of Rebellion", которое вызвало искренний и неподдельный интерес лейбла Cold Records.

Дебют 'Symmetric In Design' был завершен и появился на прилавках в феврале 2005 года. Альбом был издан в Европе на Metal Blade Records. Но этим дело не кончилось. В Японии изданием дебюта Scar Symmetry занялась фирма Soundholic, а вот для территории США он был куплен компанией Nuclear Blast America. Несколько месяцев после этого музыканты только и делали, что едва успевали отвечать на вопросы многочисленных интервью и прочитывать бессчётные хвалебные рецензии.

Такой шум не остался без внимания бизнесменов - вскоре руководители Nuclear Blast предложили группе новый контракт. И спустя год, в августе 2005 года, группа в очередной раз оказалась в студии Black Lounge (Altaria, Centinex) и принялись за запись второго альбома (в этот раз уже 13 композиций). 'Pitch Black Progress' был записан, сведен и отмастерён самим Йонасом.

Релиз состоялся в марте 2006 года. Первый видеоклип Scar Symmetry снял известный датский режиссер Maurice Swinkels (Exodus, Disbelief). В 2006 квинтет вознамерился взять концертный реванш - запланирован европейский тур из 26 и выступление на фестивале Wacken Open Air. Так что об этих пробивных ребятах вы услышите еще не раз и не два!

Scar Symmetry is a melodic death metal band from Avesta, Sweden. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast records.

Background

Formed in April 2004, Scar Symmetry came together during the band Altered Aeon's recording session at Jonas Kjellgren's Black Lounge Studios. That same month, the band recorded a demo for the song "Seeds of Rebellion" which helped the band get a recording contract with Cold Records (A subsidiary of Metal Blade Records).

Metal Blade/Symmetric in Design

In July 2005, the band entered Black Lounge Studios to begin laying down the tracks for the debut album, Symmetric in Design. They followed it up by playing festivals in Europe,as well as touring with Soilwork, Hypocrisy and One Man Army.

Nuclear Blast/Pitch Black Progress

In June 2006, it was announced that the band had signed a new recording deal with Nuclear Blast records. Eight months after the release of Symmetric In Design the band found themselves back in the studio to record their follow-up, Pitch Black Progress. The band again followed up their recording by touring, this time with Communic for the Waves of Pitch Black Decay Tour 2006 throughout Europe and toured North America with melodic death metal pioneers Dark Tranquillity, and The Haunted. They also performed at more European festivals. The song, "The Illusionist" began receiving air-play on MTV2's Headbangers Ball.

Currently the band will be embarking on another North American tour with headliners Katatonia as well as Insomnium and Swallow the Sun.

Holographic Universe

Following the Live Consternation tour with Katatonia, Insomnium and Swallow the Sun, the band has returned home to begin working on their third album. Entitled Holographic Universe, the band has already written thirteen songs, and aims to have at least sixteen written before entering the studio to record on December 1st. The band aims to have the album out in late spring 2008.

Lead vocalist Christian Älvestam also appeared on the album Out of the Dark, the second album by the Nuclear Blast All-Stars to commemorate 20 years of existence for Nuclear Blast Records. Älvestam appeared on the track "The Overshadowing".

Первый раз кнопку "запись" мы нажали в начале декабря и работали не покладая рук 24 часа 7 дней в неделю. Результат - 12 новых песен, взявших все сливки "Symmetric In Design" , острые приправы с "Pitch Black Progress", только на этот раз мы добавили сыр и свиной жир... Вам что-то понятно из вышесказанного? Нам тоже нет!"
