И ещё один совершенно незаслуженно забытый американский коллектив. На их музыку явно оказали влияние ранние работы Savatage, Armored Saint, в меньшей степени Fates Warning и Helstar. Оба альбома Siren достойны самого пристального внимания, и если первый, как случается с дебютами, самую малость сыроват и неровен, то второй получился настоящим шедевром, благодаря тому, что музыка стала несколько доступнее, но выработалось совершенно неповторимое звучание и идеально сбалансировано сочетание простоты и сложности. Вокалист Дуг Ли в первой половине 90-х прославился в рядах великих Mekong Delta.

This album is ton heavy cult from the Eighties and for me still one of the best Heavy Metal albums of all time (see my profile). Still no label has found the mercy to officially release this gemstone. There is a bootleg out there, but in an abysmal quality - so hands off!

Back to SIREN, which to my knowledge hail from Florida and never received the appreciation they deserve. But we know enough other stories like that… After several demos, which were celebrated in the underground, they finally got a deal with small German label Flametrader (among others DEMON/SWEET CHEATER). Because of the unspectacular cover the album went under completely. Only a few freaks, who knew the demos were not put off by the very Metal untypical cover. These few will love this album just like I do.

It is something really special that the band has put down for eternity on "No Place Like Home". The brilliant, super expressive vocals of Doug Lee are half the rent already. No other vocalist on this earth can sing like this. As a tip for the interested I'd like to point out that this Mr Lee also ennobled the two MEKONG DELTA eposes "Dances Of Death" and "Kaleidoscope" with his wonderful voice. There you can get a rough picture of the pitch of the master. But back to SIREN. The album also lives off its very own guitar sound. Do not expect a staccato inferno. SIREN rather are something for people, who like RUSH. The music has something fairy tale like, cranky. But emotionally this piece is unbeatable. Each song for itself is simply incredible. Who once has heard the hypnotising chorus of "Terrible Swift Sword" will be caught in the mystery of the SIREN world as me and a few of my peers, who worship this album…

To tell you the pluses of all 10 songs would be nonsense, because everybody most probably has different associations. Well, now many will ask why the hell Ralf is talking about an album that is not available on CD…That is a big problem in a time, where really the smallest piece of shit from the Eighties that nobody had been interested in even back then gets re-released, you would have the hopes…Well, anyway, who really is interested in the unusual art of SIREN can get the vinyl record for cheap at second hand markets or mail orders. At Hellion, I think, it costs roundabout Ђ 3,--… This album could enrich your life! But the whole thing does not have anything to do with the currently successful Metal, fat double bass or choirs, nothing at all! (Online July 19, 2003)
