CRIMSON CULT
MySpaceWebSiteCRIMSON CULT is the brandnew band around former STYGMA IV members Günter Maier and Alex Hilzensauer.
After the split of STYGMA IV, 2 years ago, Günter and Alex always
stayed in close contact and never lost the joy of playing music
together.
With Peter Bachmayer and Walter Stuefer they now found the right
musicians for bringing their musical ideas to the point.
From stygmaesque powermetal to highspeedparts and doomparts as well CRIMSON CULT reflects the preferred music of Günter and Alex.
For the fact that Peter Bachmayer is one of the best drummers around
with no technical limitations, it's easy to write the right metalsongs.
Walter Stuefer completed the band with his outstanding metalvoice and a
lot of liveexperience.
Within the first 3 weeks of the existence of CRIMSON CULT, the band wrote ten new songs which were recorded during autumn 2008.
In January 2009 the label Dockyard1 signes the band and will release the selftitled CD on the 29th of may 2009.
In April 2009 CRIMSON CULT hits the "Demo of the Month" award in german ROCKHARD. *********************************** DemoГод:2008 Страна:Austria/Salzburg Стиль:Power Metal Tracklist: 01. Quote Interview with Gunter Maier (guitar and Keyboardprogr.) - Crimson Cult (May 20th 2009)
Just one month ago, Crimson Cult released their first record. I was
rather surprised by the record and wanted to know a bit more about the
new album and the band. Gьnter was kind enough to answer some questions.
Why did Stygma IV quit?
Gunter: Unsuperable private
conflicts have forced me to stop the mission STYGMA IV. Believe me I
never wanted this, but there was no other way...
Can you tell us what happened in the years between the split of Stygma IV and the founding of Crimson Cult?
Gunter: For the fact that Alex and me are living in the same house we
never lost contact. We often jammed together and talked about the past
and our career. We always knew that we will form a new group together at
the right point. I did a little project without Alex but I was never
really satisfied with it. After we located Walter, our current singer,
and Beda our drummer, we knew that this is the right point for a new
beginning.
What is in your opinion the musical difference between Stygma IV and Crimson Cult?
Gunter: CRIMSON CULT is a little more straight forward than STYGMA IV
was. From the beginning of our new band we wanted a little less of this
"progfactor” we had with STYGMA IV. If we want to; prog is no problem,
(with Beda on the drums we have no limits to prog away ).
In my
review, I described first song "Evil Design” as a combination between
Black Sabbath’s Paranoid and Judas Priest’s Breaking the Law. How close
am I?
Gunter:"Evil Design" may have a little „Sab-approach" but
is miles away from J.Priest, because this is a band, as fine as it is,
we hardly listen to.
By the way, I am maybe one of the less who likes the "Nostradamus”-album and the "Turbo”-album.
How big is the influence of Black Sabbath on your music?
Gunter: BIG, Tony Iommi was my first real influence regarding guitar
playing, and I listened to Black Sabbath a lot in the 80’s! For me Black
Sabbath always was THE heavy metal band!
Are there more bands that have influenced you?
Gunter: Not really bands, maybe Rush, but I always was influenced more
by guitarists like Toni Iommi as I said before, or Frank Marino and Uli
Jon Roth.
The riff in the song "Lava Machine” is very hypnotizing, is that the Lava Machine?
Gunter: It’s the rumble of the volcano!
Does the albumcover have a certain message? Gunter: The "guy” on the cover has waited for years to get photographed and be printed by me.
How would you describe your music to a total stranger? Gunter: High Speed Doom!!! Any touring plans?
Gunter: Let’s see what the future will bring. If there is interest to bring CRIMSON CULT on stage, we are ready!
What 5 albums should every metal fan have in his/her collection? CRIMSON CULT BLACK SABBATH – Born Again STIGMATA IV – The Court Of Eternity RUSH – Moving Pictures OZZY – Bark At The Moon
Is there anything you certainly want to tell our readers?
Gunter: Don’t kill music with excessive illegal downloading. Buy some
Cd’s for regular and enjoy the booklets and the lore to feature your
favourite bands. link
