RUINS Refusal Fossil Дата релиза: Jan 19, 1998
Tracks:
total time 57:37 Sasaki Hisashi -- Bass, Vocals
Ранее не издававшиеся и концертные записи.. Первый релиз с Sasaki Hishashi. Звук грязноватый, сырой, в общем, альбом для первого знакомства однозначно не годится, в отличие от Pallaschtom, например. С другой стороны, эта "грязь" неравномерна, студийные треки 3,4,8,9,11,12 звучат вполне пристойно =) Рецензия с progreviews.com Live and unreleased tracks from throughout the band's career. Already prolific (Ruins released five albums in 1998 in one form or another), this disc collects crude recordings of previously unheard tracks, and a few from a '97 live show. Most of this album was recorded on 4- or 8-track, so the sound is raw to the extreme. The actual music is as good as anything the duo have released. From the Eastern European folksong influences in "Stara Planina" to the ridiculously compact "Prog Rock Medley" (with snippets of songs by Yes, Genesis, Magma, ELP, etc.), this album has something for everyone...who already likes Ruins. In other words, if you can handle these guys now, the low-grade recording quality isn't going to bother you much. The title track, written in 1995, is a heavy tune featuring the usual oppressive percussion and distorted bass. The utter messiness of the recording (like much of the album) gives it a demo feel rather than that of a finished product. Tough. "Ramification", from a 1997 show, features saxophonist Kikachi Naruyoshi (of Japanese avant-jazz-proggers Tipographica). For the most part, Ruins play the tune while the sax runs rampant. Sound is similar to the John Zorn project, Naked City (or more accurately, Painkiller). Overall, very consistent with the basic Ruins plan.
